This is the Team Durango DEX408 1/8 Competition Electric Buggy Kit. 1/8 electric racing allows an individual to race without the need for a pitman. Compare this to 1/8 Nitro racing, which is a two man class; one person is needed to drive, and another person is needed to put the car on the start line, pit and re-fuel. 1/8 electric off-road racing lets you experience the durability, speed and excitement of an 1/8 scale class, without having to rely on someone else. Additionally, electric racing eliminates the need to tune an engine, providing you with an 1/8 scale vehicle that is truly plug and play.
The cost of Nitro fuel, coupled with the knowledge needed to properly tune a nitro engine makes electric racing appealing, not only for someone new to the class, but also for experienced racers looking for a hassle free 2nd class. As battery technology continues to improve, 1/8 electric off-road racing will continue to grow. With today¡¯s batteries, motors and ESCs, run-times of over 20 minutes on a single charge can be achieved. And don¡¯t forget, electric racing is seriously FAST!
The Future Many 1/8 scale racers believe that 1/8 electric off-road is the future. No more will you have to be satisfied with a lumbering made-to-fit conversion for your old nitro buggy. If you want to be part of the mind-blowingly fast and exciting future that is 1/8 electric off-road, the DEX408 is an excellent choice.
A thoroughbred; No conversions here 1/8 electric off-road buggies should be just that; purpose-designed electric off-road buggies rather than nitro conversions. The DEX408 has been specifically designed for the emerging and exciting class of 1/8 scale electric off-road racing. With careful consideration of the electric-specific weight distribution requirements, the DEX408 makes no compromises; there are no short-cuts. If you are serious about 1/8 scale off-road electric buggies, the DEX408 should be your only choice.
Slimline by Design The internal components of an 1/8 electric buggy are quite different to those of a nitro buggy, so it makes sense that the weight distribution of the components needs to be considered, calculated, tested and proven. That is what Durango did with the DEX408. In order to achieve optimum weight distribution (with a near perfect 50/50 front-to-rear), they decided to keep the chassis narrow, while allowing enough room for many of today¡¯s most popular electronics. With a narrow chassis design, the DEX408 is nimble like its smaller DEX410 cousin, and it is easy to maintain between races.
Sleek & Sculpted Team Durango cars all share a certain look. Their low, flowing lines have become a hallmark of Team Durango¡¯s racing heritage. The DEX408 features a streamlined, sculpted bodyshell and lightweight molded rear wing that make it not only stunning to look at, but also give it incredible aerodynamic properties. 1/8 buggies dont have to be ugly; fast can be beautiful, and the DEX408 is both.
Access all Areas Working on your car in-between races can be a chore, and the engineers at Team Durango know this is an important part of racing. The ESC has been centrally positioned on its own composite platform, on the opposite side is a smaller platform for your Personal Transponder, while specially designed hook-and-loop straps secure the batteries to the chassis via the composite side rails. Easy-access front and rear differentials have been carried over from the DNX408, as are the race-proven suspension arms and shock absorbers, and the composite spur gear cover has a dedicated clip to hold the motor and ESC wires safely out of the way. Small details like these are the difference between an average RC buggy and a Team Durango RC buggy. Features:
Purpose designed 1/8th scale electric buggy with optimized weight distribution
Team Durango DNA, world class race proven engineering and design
Hard anodized 3mm aluminum chassis plate with composite side rails for optimum chassis flex, as well as superior traction and handling
Lightweight molded rear wing
Easy access front and rear differentials
Smooth and efficient composite spur gear
Hook and Loop battery straps for ROAR legal (and larger) battery packs
